The Jeanie Long-Izurieta ‘07 Selfless Service Award, established in 2023, was named after Jeanie Long-Izurieta to honor her selfless dedication to the success of the Texas A&M Program, our students, and the advancement of the financial planning profession. Since the program was established in 2013, Jeanie has maintained a devoted effort to curate a clear, sustainable, and strategic pathway for students to enter into the industry, one that has no doubt set the stage for where we stand today. A curated list of her contributions has been collected on this page.
A Servant Leader
Throughout her time with the program, Jeanie has worn many hats: event coordinator, course creator, photographer, application processor, design expert, and even as an instructor of an AGLS course acquainting freshmen with the university. Yet, despite the diversity of responsibilities required to take on these charges, there is one common thread running through each hat, and that is Jeanie’s willingness to wear whichever is necessary to ensure the success of those around her. Jeanie is always ready to lend a helping hand or listening ear to anyone in need, whether that’s sitting with a student to help them process their course load in light of surrounding circumstances or something as simple as enhancing a resume.
A Storytelling Strategist
Jeanie is a storyteller at heart with a mind attuned to data organization. She loves the challenge of taking an ordinary topic and turning it into something new and thought-provoking, a passion that works hand-in-hand with her affinity for recognizing trends and classifying information in a manner digestible to the consumer. These invaluable qualities can be observed through her tireless coordination of the Annual Texas A&M Financial Planning Conference, a two-day event dedicated to connecting and empowering both industry experts and aspiring financial planners, as well as through her administration of our program throughout the years.
Awards and Accolades
Throughout her career, Jeanie has received multiple awards that acknowledge the excellence she brings to her role and the Financial Planning Program.
In 2018, Jeanie was recognized by the Department of Agricultural Economics with the Agricultural Economics Staff Exceptional Service Award, and in 2013, she received the Outstanding Staff Award from the Bush School of Government and Public Service. Most recently, Jeanie was honored as the namesake for the Texas A&M Financial Planning Selfless Service Award at the 2023 Annual Financial Planning Conference. She has also received endorsements from multiple colleagues for her expertise in instructional design, visual design, and leadership, among many others, demonstrating her dedication to excellence.
Education and Personal Life
Before joining the Financial Planning Program as Program Manager, Jeanie worked as a Graphic Designer for Ranch House Designs, followed by time as an Instructional Designer for the Bush School of Government and Public Service, where she led a team of designers who managed three online certificate programs.
Jeanie graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Communications and received her Masters of Education and Communication from Texas A&M University.
