Minor in Financial Planning
The minor in Financial Planning is available to all junior and senior undergraduate students enrolled at Texas A&M University. This program prepares students for leadership roles in the financial planning profession. The six-course curriculum (18 credit hours) also satisfies the educational requirements to be eligible to sit for the Certified Financial PlannerTM (CFP®) exam. Courses must be taken for academic credit with a grade of ‘C’ or better for each course. Students must be in good academic standing.
Successful completion of the minor will be certified by a degree audit in Compass. The minor will appear on your transcript after graduation. The minor designation will not appear on your diploma.
Students wishing to add the Financial Planning minor to their degree plan should fill out a Program Application first.

Extended Learning Certificate in Financial Planning
The Extended Learning program is registered with the CFP Board of Standards, which means those who successfully complete the six courses are eligible to sit for the CFP® exam. To be eligible for the CFP® exam, you must successfully complete the six (6) required courses. Successful completion means earning a ‘C’ or better in each course.
Courses taken for extended learning credit do not count towards a degree at Texas A&M University and are not transferrable to an academic program. The Financial Planning Program issues grade and program progress reports to all Extended Learning students at the end of each semester.
